Things to Do

Make the most of Sonoma

Saturday is yours to explore. Here are some of our favorites. Many of these require a car โ€” a rental is a great idea if you plan to venture out.

๐Ÿท

Wine Tasting on the Plaza

Sonoma Plaza is lined with tasting rooms and tap rooms โ€” no reservation needed. A perfect way to spend a lazy morning or afternoon without venturing far.

๐ŸŒฟ

Visit a Winery

Sonoma and Napa Valley have incredible wineries worth exploring on your own. (Just save Buena Vista and Gloria Ferrer for the wedding events โ€” you'll be seeing plenty of them!)

๐ŸŒฒ

Muir Woods

Ancient coastal redwoods just north of San Francisco, about 1.5 hours from Sonoma. Timed entry passes required โ€” book ahead at recreation.gov.

๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Drake's Beach

A stunning white-sand beach inside Point Reyes National Seashore, about 1.5 hours away. Plan for a full day โ€” there's a lot to explore in Point Reyes.

๐Ÿ›ถ

Russian River

Rent a canoe and float down the Russian River in Guerneville, about 45 minutes from Sonoma. Burke's Canoe Trips is a local favorite.

๐ŸŒŠ

Tomales Bay Oysters

Drive out to the Point Reyes peninsula and shuck fresh oysters right on the bay. Hog Island Oyster Co. or Marshall Store are both worth the trip.

๐ŸŒณ

Armstrong Redwoods

A quieter, closer alternative to Muir Woods โ€” ancient redwoods in Guerneville, right near the Russian River. Easy to pair with a canoe day.

Hiking

The area has great trails for all levels. The Sonoma Overlook Trail is a local favorite of ours โ€” stunning views of the valley. Jack London State Historic Park in Glen Ellen is another great option. Use AllTrails to find something that fits your pace, or ask us for recs!
